VER 2026 confirms the international level of science at UCM

University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava succeeded in the national research quality assessment VER 2026. The results confirmed that the university belongs to the important scientific workplaces in Slovakia and achieves quality results in the humanities, social and natural sciences.

VER 2026 is the largest research quality assessment in Slovakia. 20 public universities and 45 institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences participated in the assessment, with 169 foreign experts from 23 countries assessing the results.

UCM was assessed in 14 scientific disciplines covering the humanities, natural sciences, social sciences and engineering. The results confirmed the university's broad scientific focus and its ability to achieve quality results in diverse areas of research.

Philology achieved exceptional results, achieving one of the strongest quality profiles at the university, with a high proportion of research outputs in the excellent quality category. It thus confirmed UCM's long-term position in the field of linguistics, literary studies and cultural research.

Mass Media and Communication Sciences and Information and Communication Sciences also achieved significant international successes, demonstrating a high level of scientific outputs, a quality research environment and significant social impact. In these disciplines, UCM has long been one of the most prominent workplaces in Slovakia.

The high level of scientific work was also confirmed by Historical Sciences, which achieved a significant representation of results in the categories of excellent and internationally recognized quality. Strong results were also recorded in the area of ​​social contribution of research.

Among the natural science disciplines, Chemical Sciences stood out in particular, which achieved a high share of results in the highest quality bands and demonstrated stable performance in the area of ​​science and research. Biological Sciences were also positively evaluated, confirming their position among the developing natural science departments of the university.

In the area of ​​social sciences, Psychology, Social Work, Pedagogical Sciences, Political Sciences and Economic Sciences achieved quality results. Several of these disciplines were positively evaluated, especially from the perspective of social impact and contribution to professional practice, public policies and the educational system.

Positive results were also recorded in Health Sciences, which demonstrated a quality research environment and the potential for further development. Similarly, Environmental and Ecological Sciences confirmed the importance of research oriented towards solving current environmental challenges.

"The results of the evaluation of research, development, artistic and other creative activities (VER 2026) prove that several departments of the university achieve quality results not only in scientific outputs, but also in the area of ​​social impact and the creation of a stimulating research environment. The university thus fulfills its mission to connect scientific knowledge with the needs of society and contribute to solving current challenges in both the national and international context," said the Vice-Rector for Science and Research of the UCM in Trnava, Prof. Miroslav Ondrejovič.

"The results confirm the quality of the work of our researchers, teachers and doctoral students. We are extremely pleased that our results are reflected not only in scientific outputs, but also in the social impact and quality of the environment that we create for the further development of science and research. Based on the results, the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava will continue to support excellent research, internationalization and strengthening the social impact of scientific work," said the Rector of the UCM in Trnava, Assoc. Prof. Iveta Dirgová Luptáková.
