Trnava County awarded the folklore ensemble Trnavčany and our colleague Ladislav Gubi
The county honored exceptional individuals and groups for their contributions to the development of society. The music and dance group and engineer Gubi received the award titled Trnava Self-Governing Region Award 2025.
"The awarded individuals and collectives prove that even in everyday life, one can act with the conviction that work has meaning and added value for society. Their efforts are silent, but all the more powerful proof that an influential person does not always have to be on stage. They often stand behind the scenes, but their deeds change the lives of others. This county honor has a deep meaning because it highlights those who create values, help, educate, heal or preserve culture. It is thanks to them that the Trnava Region has its unique character and human dimension," said Trnava County Governor Jozef Viskupič.

The Trnava resident won the TTSK Chairman's Award. The ensemble's members are folklore lovers of various ages and education levels. Currently, the ensemble is artistically led by Kristína Polachová. The ensemble successfully presents itself both at domestic folklore festivals (Myjava, Trnava, Dubnica nad Váhom, Trenčín, Lysá pod Makytou, Máriková...) and abroad (Czech Republic, Sicily, Sardinia, Greece, Portugal, Mexico...). The ensemble performs at dance and creative choreography competitions (Akademický Zvolen, Akademická Nitra, Šaffova ostroha, Vidiečanova Habovka, Jazykom tanca...). Although the ensemble's activities focus on the cultural heritage of the Trnava region, a large part of its repertoire also includes dance, music and singing interpretations of folk traditions originating from other regions of Slovakia. The dance and singing component is accompanied by dulcimer music.
Engineer Ladislav Gubi won the award for the field of culture. Under the artistic name Leo Symon, he represents the generation of contemporary fine arts in the form of digital painting. He is a holder of awards in the digital art category, holder of the award for innovative practices in modern
art, author of illustrations in the book of poetry by Milan Tumu and author of exhibitions at home and abroad.
During the gala evening, representatives of the Trnava Region presented public awards to 30 individuals and groups in 6 categories. In this way, they expressed respect and gratitude to people who, through their work and commitment, have significantly contributed to the development of education, healthcare, social services, sports, culture and civil society in the region. In addition, Jozef Viskupič awarded 9 Awards to the Chairman of the Trnava Region for meritorious deeds. The awards symbolically remind us that the region relies on people who make their surroundings better every day.
