The new rector of St. Cyril and Methodius University in Trnava will be
doc. RNDr. Iveta Dirgová Luptáková, PhD.

Trnava, February 24, 2026 – The electoral assembly of St. Cyril and Methodius University in Trnava today elected Doc. Iveta Dirgová Luptáková as rector in a secret ballot. She received 26 votes in the secret ballot. She will lead the university until 2030.
Iveta Dirgová Luptáková currently holds the position of Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at UCM in Trnava. She ran for the position of Rector of St. Cyril and Methodius University in Trnava with a vision of a transparent, independent, and internationally recognized academic environment. Her program is based on clear principles of consistent management, strengthening the quality of education, and supporting the entire academic community.
The current rector, Prof. Mgr. Katarína Slobodová Nováková, PhD, also ran for the position of rector of UCM.
The rector of the university was elected by secret ballot by the UCM Electoral Assembly, which consists of 31 senators of the UCM Academic Senate and 11 members of the UCM Board of Trustees. Twenty-two votes were required for election.
