Radio Aetter celebrated five years on a frequency that symbolizes freedom for students
Radio Aetter commemorated the anniversary of its first broadcast on the frequency. During a special program, listeners were able to listen to interviews with personalities from the media, regional events, and the cultural scene.
On Monday, November 17, the Aetter Student Radio commemorated five years since the start of broadcasting on the FM frequency, which is crucial for the radio not only technically, but especially symbolically. As the only student radio in Slovakia broadcasting in the FM band, it represents a free space in which students can create, learn, express themselves and be heard - exactly in the spirit of the message of November 17.
The anniversary of Aetter was accompanied by a special broadcast with a rich program and interesting guests. The prefect of the Trnava Self-Governing Region, Jozef Viskupič, visited the studio, who came personally on the occasion of the anniversary of the Gentle Revolution. Another guest was FMK graduate and former radio member Lenka "Smarty" Ďurišová, who now works at Rádio Expres. The musical program was complemented by singer ALYA (Angelika Kollmannová) with her current work.
On the occasion of November 17, the chairman of the student council, Peter Vojtík, also spoke, highlighting this day as a permanent symbol of student life, democracy and freedom. The program also included contributions from the dean of the Faculty of Arts, Ľudmila Čábyová, the rector of the University of St. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, Katarína Slobodová Nováková, and Katarína Rajnicová from the Divadlo na Trakoch Theater.
Aetter is the only student radio station in Slovakia that broadcasts in the FM band
The program was dynamic throughout the day – it brought new content every hour and all presenters, editors and editors took turns at the microphone. At 5:11 p.m., the Aetter team symbolically honored the anniversary of the Gentle Revolution, which opened the door to free speech and free student media.
Radio Aetter was founded on February 28, 2011 as an online student radio station. On November 17, 2020, it transformed into the first student radio in Slovakia, broadcasting on FM frequency 107.2 for the city of Trnava and the surrounding area.
